Middle River Access Points

The access points along the Middle River are a great way for Iowans to connect with water, wildlife and everything outdoors.

Future Sites

This project isn't quite done yet, but we're hard at work preparing this water trail for public use. These improvements will ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for all users while providing the necessary protection for this important environment. Future Site

Site 117 Middle River

This site is within the Banner Lakes at Summerset State Park. It offers:

  • Shooting range and public hunting lands
  • Trails
  • Parking and restrooms

Improvements

  • Carry-down access
  • Cast-in-place launch
  • A paved trail linking existing park features
Future Site

Site 112 Middle River

This site is within the Banner Flats Wildlife Management Area, which is primarily used as public hunting lands.

This site will serve as the main downstream access before it connects with the Des Moines River and will complete a three-mile trip for paddlers and anglers from the proposed Banner Lakes access.
